What difficulties await the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the front in the near future? Expert evaluation

Military expert Ivan Stupak shared his opinion on new difficulties that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) may face in the near future. In his words, with the arrival of the cold and the rainy season the situation on the front will become complicated. Heavy equipment will remain almost motionless on the sodden ground and water will begin to accumulate in the trenches, creating unfavorable conditions for both sides of the conflict.

Ivan Stupak, a former employee of the Security Service of Ukraine, told this to OBOZ.UA.

Stupak noted that weather conditions could slow both the movement of the occupiers and the advance of Ukrainian troops. He recalled that the deterioration of the weather had already had a negative impact on the Defense Forces in previous years. The expert emphasized that the black Ukrainian soil equally impedes the advance of Russian and Ukrainian teams: everything gets stuck in the mud and the soldiers are forced to stay in trenches submerged in water up to their waists.

In addition, Stupak noted that Ukraine does not have significant advantages that could change the situation on the front in its favor. Although the Ukrainian Armed Forces have long-range weapons, numerical superiority remains on the side of Russia. Stupak added that the Russian leadership is willing to spend a significant part of the budget to continue the war without encountering political resistance within the country.

According to the expert, the Ukrainian army needs more human resources and to strengthen its own weapons production. He also stressed that some places are important not only from a military point of view, but also politically, so it is necessary to preserve them. At the same time, the Ukrainian army still retains remnants of the Soviet system, which also complicates the situation. Stupak said that in the last two years there have been no significant changes in the military situation.

Previously, Kursor reported whether the seizure of part of the Kursk region by the Ukrainian Armed Forces changed the course of the war.

The seizure of part of the Kursk region by the Ukrainian Armed Forces could become an important factor in future negotiations between kyiv and Moscow.
