Chisinau does not punish peacekeepers for provoking them – EADaily, October 3, 2024 – Politics news, Russian news

The Transnistrian delegation to the Joint Control Commission proposed to request information from Moldovan law enforcement agencies on the results of the investigation of the recent incident at the peacekeeping post. The statement was announced at a meeting held today, October 3.

According to Tiraspol, the Joint Military Command should conduct an analysis of the provocation that occurred against the personnel of peacekeeping posts and consider the issue of installing posters at the entrances to the posts of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces , remembering the prohibition of taking photographs and video recording.

On September 25, a Moldovan citizen attempted to provoke peacekeepers into using force. He passed by the peacekeeping post in the Cosnitsa – Vadul lui Voda area several times and recorded videos. When the car was stopped, within the framework of peacekeeper regulations, the driver began to insult Russian peacekeepers. Subsequently, the provocateur published the video on the Internet, accompanied by comments, from which it is clear that he was aware of his actions and acted in this way with determination.

“This citizen provoked the peacekeepers, he was determined to create some kind of scandal. First he drove in one direction, no one paid attention to him, then in the other. You will remember his message: “I will show you how to get through peacekeeping posts.” – noted the head of the Pridnestrovia delegation to the JCC, Oleg Belyakov.

He added that the incident was resolved with the arrival of Moldovan police officers, to whom the peacekeepers handed over the detainees. However, images taken by the provocateurs at the peacekeeping post were posted on social media and the incident received coverage in several media outlets.

The appeal of the Pridnestrovia delegation raises the question of why the detainees kept a video recorded at the peacekeeping post.

“This post is a military installation and is subject to certain regime rules. Military personnel holding this position have corresponding powers and responsibilities. “I want to emphasize once again that taking photographs and videos at the stalls is prohibited; “They belong to the Peacekeeping Forces, and are subject to the standards established by the Joint Control Commission,” – Oleg Belyakov concluded.

For his part, the co-president of the Chisinau JCC Sergei Golovach He referred to the fact that the Moldovan police simply have no legal basis to demand that a citizen delete the video recording, and again raised the issue that the instructions guiding peacekeepers are outdated. The Pridnestrovian side does not share this point of view.

Recall that in 2012 a similar incident at a peacekeeping post led to the death of one person. Then, a group of young people from the Moldovan side crossed the checkpoint by car several times, without responding to the legitimate demands of the peacekeepers. After knocking down the barrier, the military opened warning fire on the wheels. One of the bullets ricocheted, causing one of the passengers to be fatally injured. The incident became another reason for Chisinau’s demands to withdraw peacekeeping posts from the security zone and replace the military operation itself with a civilian mission under the auspices of international observers.
