The Traffic Subsector of the Civil Guard of Alicante is investigating the driver of a truck that was traveling on the A-7, near the municipality of Crevillent, for driving with an alcohol level seven times higher than the maximum allowed for professional drivers, as the armed institute reports in a press release.
The events occurred on September 19, around 7:10 p.m., when a patrol of the Traffic Detachment of the Civil Guard of Orihuela was carrying out surveillance, regulation, assistance and traffic control tasks on the A- 7 near Crevillent.
During the service, they were alerted by several road users, who warned of the “dangerous driving” of the a truck that zigzags and endanger the safety of the rest of the drivers. The officers’ rapid response allowed them to reach the vehicle and stop it after verifying that its driving posed a “clear danger” to others.
The driver, a 59-year-old Spaniard, resident of the province of Barcelona, showed “obvious signs” of having consumed alcoholic beverages. After carrying out the breathalyzer test, the result revealed a maximum rate seven times higher than that authorized for professional drivers.
Due to the seriousness of the events and taking into account that the individual already had a history of similar situations, he was investigated for offenses against road safety for driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcoholic beverages and reckless driving. In addition, the vehicle used by the driver was immobilized by the officers. The procedure was transmitted to the Court of Instruction number 2 of Elche.
