Azerbaijan and Russia have created a working group consisting of representatives of relevant ministries, departments and research institutes to carry out studies related to the problem of Caspian Sea sinking.

“In a joint working format, experts will prepare an action plan that includes research into the causes of changes in the level of the Caspian Sea, short- and long-term forecasts and monitoring. Changes in water level, scientific research as well as other measures will be taken to reduce the negative impact on coastal areas,” the information states.
Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Rauf Hajiyev and his Russian counterpart Sergey Anoprienko were named co-chairs of the working group.
