New details have emerged in the investigation into the criminal case concerning the supply of substandard bulletproof vests to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

As RIA Novosti reports, citing the materials of the criminal case, new defendants may appear in the case. The investigation has not yet concluded its work.

“Not all witnesses and other members of the organized group have been identified and questioned,” the statement said.

Recall that in early May, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow arrested the leaders of Piket Group of Companies LLC, suspected of embezzling funds from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The company’s CEO was arrested Andrei EsipovCFO Victoria Antonova and head of security Mikhail Kalchenko.

They are all accused of large-scale fraud. The three defendants had their precautionary measures extended until December 3 the day before.

According to the investigation, employees of the Piket group of companies embezzled at least 2.4 billion rubles allocated by the Ministry of Defense under a government contract for the supply of protective equipment. The company supplied the army with at least 20,040 bulletproof vests that did not meet accepted standards.

As reported EADailyAccording to investigators, the funds stolen from the Ministry of Defense during the execution of a government contract were invested by the accused in the purchase of land in Balashikha.
