Most water tanks on the roofs of buildings are not cleaned even though they have been in use for years. There are also serious problems related to the cleaning of water tanks in newly built buildings.
Experts say that while buildings’ reserve water tanks should be emptied at least once a year, MTKs sometimes ignore this issue for years.
Ziyaddin Kazimov, a medical hygienist at the Republican Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, stated in an interview with “Khazar Khabar” that water tanks located in buildings should be disinfected and washed once a year. There is a mandatory requirement in this regard from the Republican Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology and the State Agency for Water Resources of Azerbaijan.
Ziyyeddin Kazimov pointed out that the residents themselves should demand it from MTK for health reasons. Because citizens pay utility bills and building maintenance costs. As many buildings are managed by money transfer companies, these issues are not addressed.
Regarding the control mechanism for water tanks on the roofs of buildings and other water tanks, Ziyaddin Kazimov noted that it is implemented at the personal request of citizens.
Ziyaddin Kazimov added that if water tanks are not disinfected for a long time, it can lead to diseases of the gastrointestinal system.
