Metal detectorists in England have found a 1,000-year-old Viking treasure.

The hoard of 36 silver coins dating from 1000-1065 was reportedly found thanks to two amateur metal detectorists. Historians said the coins were minted during the reigns of English kings such as Edward the Confessor, Ethelred II and Cnut.
Historian Christine Bornholdt Collins said the find reflects extensive trading connections in the region during the Viking Age. According to experts, the treasure can help better understand the history of trade and the economy of that time.
“The geography of the mints represented in this hoard reflects a dynamic and mobile economy, where merchants and cash moved from Ireland and England across the Isle of Man for long periods of time throughout the She was a Viking,” the statement says.
