Real Madrid asks judge to incorporate Toni Freixa’s confession into Barcelona’s payments to Negreira

He the real Madrid submitted a document in the Court of Instruction No. 1 of Barcelona ask the judge Joaquin Aguirre incorporate the confessions made by Tony Freixa in the COPE chain on payments from FC Barcelona to José María Enríquez Negreira.

Toni Freixa was legal advisor to the board of directors of Joan Laporta between 2003 and 2005, spokesperson and secretary under the mandate of Sandro Rosell and expressed himself with Josep Maria Bartomeu between 2006 and 2014.

The document presented by Real Madrid refers to the statements made by Freixa on the Cadena COPE on October 1. The former Barcelona coach admitted paying the former vice-president of referees for “a lobbying service”.

Freixa affirmed that what happens in arbitrations “happened even when they paid.” The explanation he gave is that an “intelligent man”, in reference to Negreira, would have sold “a lobbying service” so that FC Barcelona would do better with the referees.

According to the former coach, “one president after another” paid Negreira for fear that he would do worse with the referees. Real Madrid asks the judge to ask Cadena COPE for a certified copy of these statements so that they can be included in the file.

Real Madrid’s legal representation wants Freixa’s confession to be included in the proceedings, as it confirms that a crime of continuous sporting corruption was committed between 2001 and 2018 by FC Barcelona.

Real Madrid also asks the judge to ask FC Barcelona what positions Freixa held within the club between 2003 and 2015 and what his responsibilities were.

In the document presented to Barcelona’s Court of Instruction No. 1, Real Madrid’s lawyer claims that these public statements by the former Barça director would corroborate that the million dollar payments made over so many years by the culé entity attempted to influence the arbitration decisions.
