The Minister of Transport and Mobility, Óscar Puente, and the Andalusian Minister of Development, Housing and Territorial Articulation, Rocío Díaz, will hold their first meeting on pending infrastructure in Andalusia, on October 11 in Granada. It is about a meeting requested by the regional government for months and which is also part of the demands made by the Andalusian President, Juanma Moreno, to the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, during their meeting last September.
The meeting will take place in Granada, taking advantage of the second meeting between Minister Óscar Puente and the Mayor of Granada, Marifrán Carazo, to respond to the city’s rail integration projecta joint initiative between the Town Hall and the Executive which will lead to a significant transformation of mobility and urban development.
The Andalusian councilor keeps a list of demands in Public infrastructure in Andalusia, among them the improvement of the Cercanías network and rail connections particularly on the Costa del Sol and the Seville-Huelva-Faro axis, the improvement of public roads such as the Seville Cádiz connection or the existing collaboration framework in the development of meters of the main cities.
Likewise, the claim approved by the Andalusian Parliament following an initiative by Adelante Andalucía remains on the table so that the Andalusian government, as Catalonia has done, claim powers over the Cercanías network as provided for in the Statute of Autonomy. But in recent months, following Salvador Illa’s inauguration agreements, the regional government has cooled this possibility.
The Junta de Andalucía recalls that it is the first meeting of these characteristics held by a regional advisor with the head of the Ministry of Development since the arrival of Juanma Moreno. Yes, there were bilateral working sessions on specific topics, as was the case of the conversations between Minister Raquel Jiménez and the Andalusian councilor at the time, Marifrán Carazo, for the co-financing of the expansion of the network of Seville metro.
