“I want to go to Russia!” — A citizen of Mali was detained in Poland while walking on sleepers towards Kaliningrad

In the Polish town of Braniewo, bordering Russia (Kaliningrad region), a citizen of Mali who wanted to reach Russia was detained. They detained him while walking with the sleepers towards the Russian enclave.

The African is 23 years old. He was detained near the Braniewo train station. The Malian explained to Polish border guards that he wanted to request asylum in Russia. The border violator was placed in a temporary detention center for foreigners.

“It has been established that the 23-year-old young man arrived by boat in November 2023 in Spain. Then he traveled through Europe: Spain, Switzerland, Germany. “He finally decided he wanted to go to Russia and came to Poland.” — the press secretary of the Warmian-Masurian border detachment told reporters Miroslava Alexandrovich.

He intended to cross the Polish-Russian border on foot and then apply for asylum in Russia in Kaliningrad. Furthermore, the Malian turned out to have legal knowledge. Before arriving in Russia, he applied for international protection in Switzerland. Now the Polish court will be forced to hand over the African to the Swiss side.
