Arrested for starting a fire and causing “significant damage” to a building in Medina de Pomar

The Civil Guard arrested a 30-year-old man in the municipality of Medina de Pomar, Burgos, for causing a fire in a multi-storey building in the aforementioned municipality.

As Benemérita reports, it was last Thursday at 10:30 a.m. that the Burgos command services center received a call from 112 informing them of what had happened.

Then, several patrols immediately went to the scene, accompanied by members of the local police and firefighters, and upon their arrival, they observed thick smoke inside a door of a community in the neighborhood, which also affected the rest of the factories.

It was not necessary to evacuate the building and fortunately there was no human damage, since the Medina de Pomar firefighters managed to quickly control and extinguish the fire.

However, the flames caused “significant damage” to the community electrical installation as well as certain homes.

Since the signs and remains found both in the portal and on the affected floors indicated that the fire had been caused, the Civil Guard opened an investigation.

This made it possible to locate and arrest the alleged perpetrator at the scene of the incident.
