Feijoó will promote a housing plan “that does not protect” squatters

Young people and the problem of access to housing. They are sides of the same coin. It is for this reason that the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, will present a comprehensive plan for access to housing, whose fundamental objective will be to increase its supply, taking into account the failure of the government’s policy Pedro Sánchez in this matter. Of course, with a clear slogan around a basic principle: “No protection for those who squat illegally.”

“The one who must be prosecuted is the criminal, not the one who obeys”underlined the leader of the popular parties during a conference this Friday at the Forum La Toja-Vínculo Atlántico, held in O Grove (Pontevedra). Feijóo chose this scenario to announce some details of his housing plan, which he plans to present in detail in November.

The first thing the opposition leader wants to do is to “sit down at a table” all the sectors concerned, the financial entities, the experts and, in short, “all the relevant players in the sector”, in order to “ deal with this emergency. AND one of the fundamental premises on which the new standard should be based: “legal certainty”.

“We need ambitious legal reforms, economic and fiscal support for those who save to buy a house and protection to those who comply, whether they are owners or tenants”, declared the leader of the popular parties, detailing some of the basic premises that his plan will contain.

The project will have several objectives, but there is one which is above all fundamental: to expand the offer. And for that New constructions are “encouraged” and an “exception” period is open during which “procedures can be simplified” to access the house.

Even if the project that the president of the PP has in mind is not aimed exclusively at young people, he does not forget that they constitute the sector of the population that has the most difficulty accessing affordable housing. This is an “emergency” to which solutions must be sought without delay. Because “There is no country project if young people do not have a life project”Feijóo reflects on his appointment on the island of A Toxa.
