Valencia City Hall will open breastfeeding rooms in the municipal markets of Russafa and Cabanyal. These spaces will have seats, a changing table and the necessary equipment “so that breastfeeding mothers can breastfeed their babies in a calm environment and in a safe place to store their belongings”. This was announced today by the mayor of Valencia, Maria José Cataláduring his visit to the macro-breastfeeding workshop organized in the open air, in front of the door of the Maternity of the Clinical Hospital, on the occasion of the European Breastfeeding Week“to visualize this natural way of nourishing and promoting maternal and child health”.
The mayor, who wanted to visit this workshop “because childhood is at the center of municipal policies”, declared that “the current local government is very aware of the importance and significance of breastfeeding”. “And it is for this reason – he stressed – that in 2025 we will continue to allow new rooms to promote it.” Concretely, the spaces available in other markets, as well as at the town hall and in the municipal offices of Tabacalera, will be adapted for this purpose, “for any mother who surrounds her and needs it”.
Among other initiatives launched by Valencia City Hall to help families raise their children, the mayor highlighted the aid of 300 euros that the City Hall will grant to newborns from January.
