Double from the favorite DJ of the Popular Festival to close the Madrid party calendar. DJ Pulpo will end the weekend of hiring by the Madrid City Council at the Salamanca District Festivals, as announced by the City Council a week before his performance.
The Cope radio host, Carlos Moreno, will perform on Friday, October 11 at 10:30 p.m., as part of the festival programming of a neighborhood where he repeats his presence, since his appearance on the stage of Eva Perón Park in 2021 .
The day before, DJ Pulpo will open the Barrio del Pilar Festival in Fuencarral, where the Town Hall has reserved the possibility of including him in a program in which no musical show was planned that day.
DJ Pulpo is a regular at town hall celebrations governed by the PP, as well as election nights in Genoa, where he usually acts as musical master of the party supporters’ ceremonies.
Asked about the predilection of this artist and other artists close to the PP with several public contracts in recent parties, the City Hall denied this summer in the responses to Somos Madrid any type of favoritism towards certain groups or others. Concerning the criteria for hiring artists, they explained that it is the companies which organize the different evenings which propose a series of singers. They indicate that “the councils choose based on cachet and availability” and ensure that they think about what Madrid residents might like the most, opting for groups that are “attractive to the public”.
In the case of the Salamanca Festival programming, the Departmental Council responsible for procurement is headed by Cayetana Hernández de la Riva. He is the fifth municipal councilor to elect this DJ close to his party in 2024: they also did it in Tetuán, Vicálvaro and Chamberí, where he was unable to perform due to a last-minute unforeseen event. This district is the tenth municipal party contract in Madrid for Carlos Moreno since 2022.
That of Pulpo is the most repeated name in a list of musicians usually hired by PP advisers such as DJ Nano, Tam Tam Go!, La Frontera or Nacha Pop, according to the investigation recently published by this newspaper. They are all hired through third-party companies, winners of municipal calls for tenders for the organization of parties.
