The second week of teaching at the Türkiye-Azerbaijan University (TAU) is coming to an end. Today, TAU, where 84 students study, is in the center of attention of both the states of Azerbaijan and Türkiye.

The teaching staff of the university, which operates in collaboration with the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), were guests of Istanbul Technical University, Middle East Technical University and Hacettepe University.
AzTU press secretary Sevinj Iskenderova said 84 students study computer engineering, food engineering and industrial engineering at the Türkiye-Azerbaijan University. Classes are held at the Middle East Technical University (EDTU) in computer engineering, Hacettepe University in food engineering, and Istanbul Technical University in industrial engineering.
“The Turkey-Azerbaijan University is the world’s first “umbrella university” model. TAU’s management system is based on departments and department heads. Each department head heads only his or her department. The admission process is carried out on the basis of the Azerbaijani admission system, that is, through the examination of the State Examination Center.
According to Umran Uygun, director of the university’s food engineering department, the food engineering major is taught according to the Hacettepe University program:
“In the first academic year, 27 students were admitted to our department. Currently, our educational program has started with them. The history of this specialty in Turkey dates back to 40 years. At first it was not very popular in Turkey, but today it is It is. One of the most popular specialties here we observe the same trend. Although in some higher educational institutions there is a specialty of food engineering, I think that over time we will achieve wide dissemination of this specialty in Azerbaijan, but there is no laboratory and. An educational institution like TAU I believe TAU will fill a big gap in the food industry in Azerbaijan through this specialization.”

He said that Azerbaijan receives support from Turkey in the field of the food industry, but then it will be able to solve the existing problems with its own specialists without needing such support: “Here we will train personnel for 4 years. The university is located at 30 Khojaly Avenue, Khatai District. To ensure the activities of the university, a budget of 10 million manats has been allocated.
Tofig Zeynalov, a food engineering student at TAU, says that the conditions created here are better than he expected: “During the second week I feel a big improvement in English. Currently we are only in the preparatory phase, so we only teach English “As we only speak English with Turkish teachers, we don’t have any problems.”
“I am very happy to be here today. Our teachers are very good and sincere. This has a positive effect on our education. Each of us comes to classes with enthusiasm,” said another major student, Ayan Ahmadli.
It should be noted that by the decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev on September 23, 2024, the Turkey-Azerbaijan University received the right to independently select students based on the results of the entrance examinations conducted by the Examination Center of the State and admitting students. on a paid basis.

Metin Özdemir, professor of computer engineering, says that despite the new start of teaching, the students are very willing and enthusiastic:
“All our teachers emphasize that the students are very capable. The students of the Middle East Technical University, where we come from, are among the most capable students in Turkey.
