The PSOE of Castilla y León is at war with Ferraz after the federal leadership overturned a primary process that the regional formation had convened in defiance of the statutes. Finally, the national leadership of the PSOE affirmed its position of strength and canceled the convocation of the Autonomous Congress of the PSOE of Castilla y León to organize primaries that its Autonomous Committee had approved. And Ferraz understands that this call for primaries would violate the party’s statutes, which establish that regional elections must take place after the federal elections.
It is for this reason that the Federal Commission of Ethics and Guarantees of the national PSOE decided to cancel the bases of the regional appeal, as became known after a resolution of this party body.
After Ferraz’s decision to reverse the primaries, the socialist leader of Castilla y León, Luis Tudançaannounced that he respected the decision, even if he did not share it. The Burgos politician said he was doing it “out of respect” for the party he loves “so much”, but said his commitment was to defend “the voice of activism that has been prevented from exercising by the suspension of the primaries”. “, since the appeal was “scrupulously statutory”.
“I have never had any other ambition than to fight for Castilla y León and to defend socialist values,” Tudanca said in a statement, in which he said he was “very proud of the support and affection that he always received PSCyL activists”.
“For this reason, I will also remain committed, wherever they decide, defending their will and an autonomous project,” he added. Tudanca recalled that the resolution would make all autonomous congresses held in 2021 “null” and that the convocation for the primaries was approved with 81% of the votes in favor of the Autonomous Committee, the supreme body of the PSCyL and competent for the convocation.
Tudanca believes that Ferraz’s resolution “is not even adopted by the entire competent body”, and maintains that it is “only a subjective interpretation and that nothing expressly prevents asking in the regulations to do so at the next Congress”. regulate and, therefore, recognize that this is not the case.
