Stoltenberg admitted that NATO deceived the people of Afghanistan

“The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has failed to fulfill its promise to the people of Afghanistan that alliance troops will leave the country only on the condition that representatives of the “Taliban” movement do not return there. “

Oku.Az This was stated by the former Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, in an interview with the newspaper “Financial Times” (FT).

“I told them: ‘Our exit from Afghanistan depends on certain conditions. We will only leave when Afghans can defend their country and we will guarantee that the Taliban movement will not return,” the publication quotes the former secretary general as saying.

Stoltenberg also emphasized that the US elections could give impetus to the resolution of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and regretted that the North Atlantic Alliance had not provided more help to kyiv. According to him, Ukraine could be forced to give up the territories it lost control during the war.

Additionally, Stoltenberg was asked what advice he would give to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy regarding peace talks with Russia, and in response, he mentioned the peace treaty signed between the USSR and Finland.

“The Finns caused more damage to the Red Army than was expected of them. The war ended with the loss of 10% of their territory. But they gained a secure border,” Stoltenberg noted.
