In the works of rehabilitation of the new residence for the elderly Urederrad’Estella, located in the building of old Oncineda innDemolitions, digging of trenches, formation of facade openings, installation of pre-frames, foundations and execution of new structural elements have already been carried out, which started in June.
THE jobs were attributed to UTE Residence Santo Domingoan entity made up of the companies Excavaciones Fermín Oses SL and Construcciones Mariezcurrena SL, for a total amount of 8,317,030 euros (excluding VAT).
With a 24 month deadlineit is expected that The work will be completed in June 2026.
THE commissioning of the new building will involve the creation of a residence equipped with 65 places (divided into five co-living units on three floors), with an area of 6,263 square meters, and closer to the urban center than the current location of the senior center, located in the former convent of Santo Domingo. The building where the center is currently located required complete renovation to adapt it to current regulations and presented adaptation difficulties.
THE investment This is part of the collaboration agreement signed between the Ministry of Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda and the Foral Community for the execution of projects within the framework of the Next Generation funds of the European Union through the approval of the Recovery, transformation and resilience plan of the Spanish government.
The name of the new residence, Urederrawas chosen according to a participatory process: initially, the residence, with the residents, proposed twelve possible names; Later, the population of Estella was able to choose their favorite via the municipal website and finally, among the three most voted options, the residents chose the final name. Specifically, besides Urederra, locals also appreciated the names of Zalatambor and Sierra de Lokiz.
New spaces
The building being renovated for use as a residence It was built in 1980 and served as an educational center for many years, then became a hostel. The works will involve a complete renovation of the interior and exterior, but its current general structure and appearance will be retained. A new thermal envelope and surface finish will also be installed to provide an aesthetic and functional improvement.
In the residential area, The project proposes to install a majority of single rooms (a total of 61 rooms), but it is also planned to include two double rooms, one on each floor. The aim is to recreate a warm atmosphere in each room, with domestic furniture, different types of lighting and views to the outside from the seated position. Users will also have a direct call system for caregivers and an accessible individual bathroom.
Abroad, Renovation includes greenhouse and urban gardenas well as a bio-health circuit with outdoor gym and sensory garden to promote sensory and cognitive stimulation. Likewise, the entrance will have an accessible staircase and ramp.
