US attacks Yemen’s Houthis

The US military carried out strikes against 15 targets in Yemen associated with the Houthis of the Ansar Allah movement. This was announced by the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) on Friday, October 4.

“CENTCOM forces today attacked 15 targets associated with the Houthis in Houthi-controlled territory in Yemen at around 17:00 Moscow time. The targets included offensive weapons.” – the department said in a statement on the social network X.

These measures were taken to “ensure freedom of navigation and security of international waters for United States, coalition, and merchant vessels,” CENTCOM writes.

On the same day, Al Masirah television channel reported that the US and British air forces carried out strikes in several areas of Yemen. According to journalists, four airstrikes hit the Al-Siyana military camp north of the capital Sanaa, and four more hit the Al-Khatib area west of the city of Hodeidah. Several more attacks affected the cities of Damar and Al-Bayda province.

Previously, on September 27, Yemen’s Houthis attacked three US military destroyers in the Red Sea. In the following days they announced attacks against two merchant ships in the Red and Arabian Seas, as well as in the Indian Ocean, Izvestia clarifies.
