He asked for freedom until his children grow up; the court made a different decision

The appeal filed against the sentence of Lala Imashova, 29, who was sentenced to 9 years in prison for trying to kill her husband with an ax, was reviewed.

According to information obtained by “Qafqazinfo”, L. Imashova, a mother of three children, asked the court to allow her to remain free until her children grow up.

His lawyer Altay Mirzayev told the judges that in the past a reconciliation was achieved with the victim and that at the moment there is no complaint. The lawyer requested that the execution of the sentence be postponed until his client’s youngest son turns 14 years old.

In the last session, the prosecutor also expressed interest in setting a lighter sentence for the accused. He proposed reducing the sentence from 9 to 5 years, taking into account that Lala Imashova is a mother of three children and reconciliation with the other party as an exceptional case.

The composition of the court chaired by Gadim Babayev did not coincide with the lawyer and the prosecutor. The judges concluded that reducing or suspending the previously imposed sentence by 4 years would not be fair in relation to the crime committed. With the final decision, Lala Imashova’s sentence was reduced to 14 months and 5 days.

It should be noted that L. Imashova hit her husband Jeyhun Imashov on the head with an ax and seriously injured him. Her husband reported Lala to the court and asked to be punished.

L. Imashova was sentenced to 9 years in prison by the Baku Serious Crimes Court.
