Bosnia and Herzegovina is flooded, landslides destroy roads and bridges

Bosnia and Herzegovina suffers the worst floods in recent years. The canton of Herzegovina-Neretva, in the south of the country, was especially affected.

Local publications report 19 dead, but this figure is likely to increase as several dozen people are missing.

The flood caused powerful landslides that destroy everything in its path. In the center of the country, houses, roads and bridges are buried.

The Bosnian publication Dnevni avaz reports that the town of Jablanica, located near the reservoir of the same name, is isolated from other populated areas.

Strong currents of water washed away roads and railways. The largest number of people died and disappeared in this town.

Neighboring Croatia is also known to have been affected by the disaster, although there were no reports of casualties there. Rescuers warned of adverse weather conditions on the Adriatic coast and in the central regions of the country.

Similar warnings are also in effect in Montenegro and Serbia.

Previously EADaily reported that millions of Americans in the southeastern and eastern United States remain without power due to the catastrophic Hurricane Helena, which became the most powerful since 1958.
