More than 600 people demonstrated this Saturday in the streets of Valladolid to protest against the closure of the Bimbo company factory in the city, which would leave 166 workers and 40 other workers from outside companies on the streets. A demonstration supported by the UGT and the CCOO and attended by advisors from the PP, PSOE and Take the Word.
Union representatives asked the multinational to be “flexible” and consider the possibility of selling the factory to an investor to save it, on the same day that the Minister of Industry, Trade and Employment , Leticia García, confirmed that workers will strike for nine days this month.
Concretely, he indicated that the Bimbo Works Council has already communicated in its department, as a labor authority, that it will begin on October 9 a calendar of nine days of strike throughout the month.
García confirmed the mobilization of Bimbo workers, the day they took to the streets of Valladolid, to demand an industrial plan that allows the viability of the industry.
The advisor regretted that the company continues to have “a lot of reluctance” to sit down to negotiate with the Board of Directors, and demanded that the multinational “rethink” and sit down “to look for an industrial solution that could exist and which would be viable. .”
Leticia García recalled that she requested this meeting from the Anclaje Foundation to address the different mechanisms that the regional government makes available to them to seek an industrial solution before layoffs and closure of facilities.
García emphasized that both the Commission and the Government and the Valladolid City Council are looking for this industrial solution which implies that Bimbo agrees to sit down so that the activity is maintained and “does not reach the regrettable situation of layoffs”.
