BTQ called on the International Organization of La Francophonie to pay attention to the crimes committed by France

The Baku Initiative Group (BIG) has asked the International Organization of La Francophonie to pay attention to the crimes committed by the French Government in the overseas territories under French rule.

Oku.Az reports that within the framework of the ongoing Summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie in Villers-Cotterêts and Paris, unilateral, partial and distorted provocative statements were made against Azerbaijan with the direct support of France.

The information released by BTQ indicates that the adoption of documents by the International Organization of La Francophonie, which is a cultural institution, against a sovereign country that is not a member of it and on a topic outside its mandate in general, It seriously damages the reputation of this organization, and the fact that it is used by France as a means of pressure against other countries shows that it plays the role of a political tool.

Within the framework of respect for international law, the International Organization of La Francophonie, which works in the field of promoting the decolonization process and the fight against (neo)colonialism, has asked the International Organization of La Francophonie to pay attention to the crimes committed by the French Government in the overseas territories under French rule.

BTQ recalls that more than 10 civilians were killed by French security forces and hundreds of people were arrested in response to peaceful protests held in Kanaki (New Caledonia) in protest against the serious violation of the rights and freedoms of the Kanaks . people by the French Government. About 10 participants in the actions are under pressure in the prisons of the French metropolis as political prisoners.

“The government in Paris is trying to close Tefana Radio, which is the voice of freedom and local traditions in French Polynesia. On the island of Corsica, France prohibits the use of the local language in public institutions. On the island of Mayotte, which illegally annexed, the French government applies the Balladur visa preventing Qamar from communicating with the other sister islands, thus forcing the indigenous people of Mayotte to forget their culture, language and traditions and live according to the rules of French culture . a policy of assimilation in French Guiana, Martinique and Guadeloupe, which relegates local languages and forces Aboriginal children to study in a French education system that ignores local history, geography and culture. the countless crimes that France has committed in its overseas territories and continues to commit today the deliberate destruction of national identity in its former and current colonies, follows a policy of doing so and, unfortunately, has largely succeeded,” says the release.

Taking into account the above, the Baku Initiative Group makes the following appeals to the International Organization of La Francophonie:

– Issuance of a statement by the Secretary General of the International Organization of La Francophonie condemning these crimes of the French Government;

– Hold a special session on the crimes committed by France during the summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie;

– Sending a special commission of investigation into the crimes committed in the territories that remain under French slavery. Presentation of the report that the commission will prepare to the UN special committee on decolonization. The Baku Initiative Group is ready to provide expert support to the sending of the commission to the territories.

– In French colonies, in government agencies, official correspondence, courts, etc. calling on the French government to abandon the mandatory use of the French language in public places.
