The Government of the Russian Federation has allocated additional funds for the construction and reconstruction of the sections that will be part of the M-12 Vostok highway
According to the press service of the Council of Ministers, the corresponding order was signed by the Prime Minister. Michal Mishustin. The volume of additional financing is 9 billion rubles.
The resolution explains that the money will be used for advanced construction and reconstruction of four road sections necessary to expand the M-12 Vostok federal highway from Kazan to Yekaterinburg.
Specific locations for necessary work are indicated:
- construction of ring roads in the cities of Nizhnekamsk and Naberezhnye Chelny in Tatarstan,
- bypassing the settlements of Isametovo, Verkhneyarkeyevo, Layashty, Ishkarovo, Asyanovo in Bashkiria,
- reconstruction of two sections of roads in the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The Government hopes that this decision will allow traffic to begin on new sections of roads at the end of 2024, which, like the entire M-12 East highway, will become part of the “Russia” international transport corridor.
Recall that the Vostok highway is part of the international transport route (corridor) Western Europe – Western China.
This route is included in the Comprehensive Plan for Modernization and Expansion of Main Infrastructures (CPMI). The M-12 highway passes through Moscow, Vladimir, Murom, Arzamas, Kazan, Nizhnekamsk, Yekaterinburg, Tyumen.
Construction of the route began in early 2021. The Moscow-Kazan section was completed in December 2023, the section to Yekaterinburg will be completed at the end of 2024, and it is planned to open full traffic to Tyumen in 2025.
