The mayor of Talavera de la Reina, Julián Gregorio, has declared three days of official mourning for the death of former mayor Luis Antonio González Madrid, who died at the age of 94.
He was a municipal councilor between 1987-1990. As a sign of mourning, there will be three days of official mourning for someone who “had the honor, responsibility and burden of being a councilor of our city,” the city council reported in a press release.
Likewise, the Town Hall flags will be at half-mast for three days and the Talavera flag will display black crepe.
González Madrid, from the CDS, became mayor thanks to an agreement with AP and IU. In 1990, he had to leave office following the success of a PSOE motion of censure supported by IU.
