King calls for two-state solution to Israeli-Palestinian conflict during Jordan visit

King Felipe VI assured this Saturday in Amman that the conflict in the Middle East “must end as soon as possible“: “We can’t wait to see the end of the human drama and the silence of arms”, indicated the King to the Spanish community in Jordanduring the monarch’s first act during the official visit which began Saturday afternoon.

“Spain must resume, with more intensity if possible, efforts towards a two-state solutionwhich lays the foundations of a solid and lasting peace for the Palestinian people and the Israeli people“This is what he said after highlighting Spain’s interest in helping Jordan.

The King continued to assert that the conflict “took a new turn a year ago with the brutal and unjustifiable terrorist attack against Israel” and that this “brought us images of indescribable suffering And devastation in Gaza and it becomes even more serious with its extension to Lebanon.”

Finally, he stressed that “faced with even greater risks of regional escalation, [el conflicto] must end as soon as possible“.

At the residence of Ambassador of Spain to JordanMiguel de Lucas González, around three hundred people of Spanish nationality gathered to receive the king and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Jose Manuel Albaresin an act in which the monarch conveyed to them the embrace and closeness of the Crown, the Government and all Spaniards in the face of the difficult situation that the region is going through.
