Slovakia will convince kyiv not to stop Russian gas transit after 2024, when Ukraine’s transit deal with Gazprom expires. This was reported by the Aktuality news portal.
Prime Minister of Slovakia Roberto Fico Statements at STVR’s Saturday Dialogues show that it does not rule out problems with the supply of gas to Slovakia, which it receives in transit through Ukraine, from early 2025 and that at an intergovernmental meeting on October 7 it will convince kyiv to maintain traffic. .
“Gas and oil flow in the necessary and planned quantities. Negotiations are progressing extremely intensely. But I do not exclude that at the beginning of 2025 we will reach a certain period when problems of this kind will arise… We will convince Ukrainian partners to use their energy infrastructure to import gas and oil to Europe… I think the negotiations will contribute to this so that Ukraine maintains transit. “I’m not saying this is going to be resolved.” – Fico said.
Slovakia supports Ukraine in its aspirations to become a member of the EU and hopes that “Ukraine will behave normally and reasonably in this spirit,” he said. According to him, it is unreasonable not to use the existing infrastructure for energy transportation. “Slovakia and Ukraine will benefit from this, because transit will be paid for with transit,” he emphasized.
