UN Secretary General condemns Hamas

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, in a speech marking the anniversary of the attack by Palestinian Hamas militants against Israel, called for an end to the armed conflict in the Middle East. This was reported on October 6 on the official website of the international organization.

“This is the day when the world community must once again speak with the loudest voice in our strong condemnation of Hamas’s abhorrent actions, including the hostage-taking.” – said.

In his message, the UN Secretary General called on the international community to strongly condemn these events, which have caused a shocking wave of violence throughout the region.

“The time has come to release the hostages. It’s time to silence the guns. “It is time to end the suffering plaguing the region.” Guterres noted.

He added that radical Hamas and other militants should allow the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to visit the hostages and provide them with necessary assistance.

The UN Secretary-General also noted that the war, which followed the horrific attacks a year ago, continues to destroy lives and cause deep suffering for Palestinians in Gaza and now the people of Lebanon.
