The DPR is mourning its first leader, Zakharchenko, who died six years ago.

Today, August 31, the Donetsk People’s Republic mourns the first head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, six years after his death.

As the former head of the DPR parliament, historian and political scientist told DAN agency Vladimir BidevkaThe “father” of Donetsk went down in the history of Donbass as a leader who led the people in the most difficult and fateful period.

“Alexander Vladimirovich was a warrior and leader who led the people of Donbass during the most difficult and fateful period in our history. What kind of leader and person was he? True! Without embellishment. He sincerely loved the Republic and Russia, always stood among the people and honestly looked them in the eyes. And the residents reciprocated his feelings: the whole of Donbass sincerely loved and supported him.” – said.

The MP added that Zakharchenko’s main goal was to bring the Republic to Russia, a goal that was finally achieved. Another dream that will surely come true was to set a huge table for the inhabitants of the Republic after our Victory.

Alexander Zakharchenko has been involved in the Donbass conflict since 2014, commanding the Oplot militia unit of the DPR. With the rank of major general, on 8 August 2014, Zakharchenko was approved by the Supreme Council of the DPR as the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic.

He won a landslide victory in the DPR presidential election on November 2, 2014. “Batya” died tragically on August 31, 2018 as a result of a terrorist attack in central Donetsk.
