Trump’s story about the attack that nearly killed him in Pennsylvania

July 13, 2024 is added to the days that will go down in the political history of the United States. After 6:00 p.m. in Pennsylvania, former President Donald Trump received a bullet that, by a few centimeters, did not end his life and only grazed his ear. “I felt the bullet go through my skin,” said the candidate returning to the Oval Office for the November elections.

Trump, who has previously shared the former president’s economic measures and campaign slogan Ronald Reaganwill now also share that he was the victim of an assassination attempt – despite his predecessor being in office when it happened. In 1981, the attacker fired a revolver from 5 meters away and seriously injured the president, who had to undergo surgery. This time it was at 150 meters and it appears the Republican leader will only suffer a scar at the top of his ear.

Less than three hours after the attack, Donald Trump posted a message online Social truthin which he began by thanking the security forces for their response to the attack and offered his condolences to the family of the deceased man.

He later recounted how he heard the buzzing sound before feeling the projectile which caused the wound and bleeding.

Here is the full statement:

The president was shielded on stage by several Secret Service agents, who removed him a minute later as he muttered “fight, fight” while looking at the camera, his fist raised.

The gunman was killed immediately after the attack, but his shots killed a bystander and wounded at least two other people in critical condition, the Secret Service reported hours later.
