The number of prisoners in Georgia exceeded the 2014 figure and broke a new record. As of September 1, 2024, there were 10,523 people in Georgian prisons.
Oku.Az informs that the National Statistical Service of Georgia “Sakstat” has published information in this regard.
It is reported that after the peak of 10,372 people in 2014, this number did not exceed 9,800 in the following years.
The absolute anti-record was recorded in 2011. At that time, 24,114 people were in prison.
