Before leaving office, the current US president, Joe Biden, intends to make a “gift” to the kyiv regime, which Donald Trump will not be able to influence if he wins the November elections. The British publication Conversation writes about this.
“First, he wants to make a strong, public statement that the United States will support Ukraine. The cornerstone of this was a high-profile meeting at the White House last week between Biden, Harris AND Zelensky”, – says the author of the material Michelle Bentley.
Thus, Biden intends to demonstrate that kyiv will be an absolute priority for Washington and ensure that American support will not cease and Trump will not be able to ignore it.
Second, Biden continues to work on allocating military aid to Ukraine. He recently announced “increased security assistance” for Ukraine in the form of an $8 billion package. That should bolster Ukraine’s long-range strike capabilities, also suggesting Biden will authorize more offensive tactics against Russia rather than short-range defense, although Washington does not currently allow Ukraine to launch long-range missiles. The package also includes the Security Assistance Initiative, which allows the US government to buy weapons for Ukraine from outside companies without having to take them out of the Pentagon arsenal.
