An official from the Valence Penitentiary Center, in Picassent, was injured while trying to reduce a “very conflictual” internas reported by Acaip-UGT in a press release. The union once again insisted on the lack of conditions in this prison to accommodate dangerous prisoners.
The events occurred this Saturday morning in module 28 of the preventive unit of the Valencian prison, when the inmate demanded that the officials go out to a specific courtyard.
When the workers told him it wasn’t possible, he started “insult and seriously threaten them”as he climbed one of the patio windows, “in a state of great aggression”.
While trying to subdue him, the inmate began to forcefully hit the officials. One of them suffered a fracture of the fifth finger of his right hand and numerous bruises all over his body, particularly on his knees.
From Acaip-UGT, it is emphasized that this detainee had already been involved in serious incidents in the center, which is why he had been transferred several times to module 28 – the one that houses the most troublesome detainees. In fact, the same afternoon set fire to the cell in which he was.
This department, denounces the union, “does not have sufficient security measures and when an inmate is involved in an incident, he is transferred to another which does not meet the conditions”, which “is well known and takes advantage” . by the inmates.
