Manuel Turizo He’s been on stage since he was 16 and he’s killing it. At laSexta we spoke to him about his life and his successful musical career on the day he celebrates a concert at Puerta de Alcalá, Madrid, on the occasion of Hispanic festivities.
On his cap he wears the message “Hello” and this Sunday, without a doubt, is one of them for him. Feel the “excitement” and “adrenaline” before the concert. And, even if it is almost impossible, between two trips, to find a place where you feel comfortable, Turizo assures that Spain became his “refuge”. “I feel good here, it’s hard not to be drawn to a place where you feel like people love you and you’re connected from the first song,” he says, and much of the responsibility lies with the public. “He likes what I do, what I think and what I do,” and that’s very important to him.
Manuel Turizo has just released ‘Qué pecao’, a new song with another Colombian artist Kapo. A song that remains faithful to the genre she masters best, bachata. “Many people sing beautifully and well but the most difficult thing is to find your style,” which he has already done. “What, in my opinion, sustains an artist over time is a style that is too clear and that people recognize very well,” he says.
His music is a clear commitment to Latin rhythmswith influences from all styles and artists, from Juan Luis Guerra to Aventura or the whale of his native country.
