Dubai-based Emirates Airlines has introduced a ban on carrying pagers and radios on its flights.
This decision was made after recent incidents of explosions of similar devices associated with the Lebanese group Hezbollah, as Reuters writes.
The company said that all passengers flying to, from or through Dubai are not allowed to include these devices in their checked or carry-on luggage. Dubai Police will confiscate any identified pagers or radios as part of heightened security measures.
Emirates Airlines also announced the suspension of flights to Iraq and Iran until Tuesday, and flights to Lebanon are temporarily canceled until October 15. However, the airline will resume its flights to Jordan tomorrow.
Previously, Cursor reported that Air India, India’s national airline and one of the country’s oldest airlines, was canceling all flights to Israel until the end of the year. Irish low-cost airline Ryanair has also suspended its flights to and from Israel until February 2025. The decision comes in response to similar measures by EasyJet, which has also suspended flights for the coming months.
It is expected that this situation could cause an increase in airline ticket prices for passengers. Many airlines have temporarily suspended flights to Israel and unless Ryanair resumes them in 2025, it will be a blow for Israeli travelers.
In conditions of limited supply and high demand, the cost of flights usually increases. Other companies such as Delta, KLM, American Airlines and Cathay Pacific also have no plans to return to Israel until the end of the year.
