Some 5.5 thousand refugees left Lebanon for Syria in the last 24 hours

In the last 24 hours, 5,426 people crossed the Syrian border through checkpoints due to the deterioration of the humanitarian situation due to Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory, said the deputy director of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Warring Parties in Syria (CPVS). Captain 1st rank Oleg Ignasyuk.

“During the day, 5,426 people crossed the borders of the Syrian Arab Republic from the territory of Lebanon through the Al-Arida, Al-Jawasiya, Al-Dabuhiya, Jasr Al-Qamar and Jaydut-Yabus checkpoints.” – said Ignasiuk.

Since October 1, Israel has been carrying out a ground operation against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon and continues aerial bombardments of the neighboring country, where more than a thousand people have already been killed, including Hezbollah leaders. More than 90,000 Lebanese residents became refugees. Hezbollah is fighting ground combat and has not stopped firing rockets into Israeli territory.

The main objective of the military campaign in Israel is to create conditions for the return of 60 thousand inhabitants of the north of the country who were evacuated due to the bombings launched by Hezbollah.
