Organized by the Ministry of Defense and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the “High-level Seminar on International Standards in the Management of Military Operations” (SWIRMO) began in Baku on October 7.
The report informs that senior officials representing more than 70 countries participate in the seminar, which is one of the ICRC’s important events.
The aim is to deepen the understanding of international standards on the management of military operations, examine the problems related to the application of international humanitarian law on the modern battlefield, integrate this law into military planning, conduct of operations and strengthening of moral values, as well as developing mutual understanding between soldiers working in the same space and the ICRC.
The seminar is held mainly in the territories of countries that have experienced wars and that adhere to the foundations, norms and principles of international humanitarian law.
At the seminar, servicemen of the Azerbaijan army will share their experiences.
The seminar will feature speeches on the history and current activities of the ICRC, dialogue with militants, military operations and law, integration of law, international humanitarian law and objectives, application of international humanitarian law in Azerbaijan army and other topics.
The seminar will continue until October 12.
