Reliable sources have confirmed the death of Major General Ismail Kaani, commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The “Telegram” channel “Azad Iran” reported about this.
His body was reported to have been brought to Tehran during Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s visit to Beirut.
Kaani was in the southern suburbs of Beirut when the attack occurred on Thursday, one of the sources said. It was also highlighted that Hashim Safieddin, Hasan Nasrullah’s possible successor, was the target of that attack. However, the official noted that Kaani did not meet Safiaddin. The source also added that since then, Iranian officials and representatives of the Hezbollah movement have not been able to contact Kaani.
A second official also confirmed that Kaani traveled to Lebanon after Nasrullah’s death and could not be located after the alleged attack on Safieddin.
It should be noted that Kaani was appointed to this position in place of Qasim Soleimani.
