Six people were repatriated to Azerbaijan from Syria on September 18 and two from Iraq on October 7.

Oku.Az informs that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan published information in this regard.

It was reported that first of all the place, identity and belonging to Azerbaijani citizenship of the returnees were determined. Representatives of the competent state institutions responsible for the repatriation of Azerbaijani citizens from Syria and Iraq were sent to Turkey and Iraq and a preliminary medical and psychological examination of the repatriates was carried out. Our citizens received certificates of return to Azerbaijan from the diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan in those countries and the repatriation of such citizens to Azerbaijan was carried out on the basis of delegation.

It was noted that appropriate measures will be implemented for the social rehabilitation and reintegration of returnees into society.

“The government of the Republic of Azerbaijan will continue to take the necessary measures for the repatriation of Azerbaijani citizens who have been victims of the armed conflict on the territory of foreign countries,” the information highlights.
