The PP will study “all political and legal tools” against Sánchez’s “deception” to reduce the sentences of ETA members

The Popular Party announced Monday that it would study “all political, legal and parliamentary tools” against the modification of a judicial law approved by Congress which, according to the Association of Victims of Terrorism (AVT), will allow 44 ETA members to deduct the sentences they served in Franceincluding 7 released in the coming months.

The Vice-Secretary for Mobilization and the Digital Challenge of the PP, Noélia Nunezassured the media that, “if it is confirmed that the government of Pedro Sánchez has deceived all the parliamentary groups” of Congress with the addition of these amendments, his party will act to “prevent” this “contempt” from being consummated .

This is the modification of the organic law 7/2014 on the exchange of criminal record information and review of criminal resolutions in the EU. This change was unanimously approved during the plenary session of Congress on September 18 and will be debated and voted on this Tuesday in the Senate.

If definitively approved, the reform of the law will result in the removal of the additional provision which prevented ETA members from deducting sentences served in France, a measure that ETA’s entourage had been demanding for years.

“If this outrage and indecency to which this Parliament has been subjected and the deception of all the parliamentary groups of the Congress of Deputies are confirmed, of course, from the People’s Party, we will study all political, legal and parliamentary tools to prevent this be consumed”, Núñez told the media of the Congress, where the PP filed a complaint with the Congressional Police for the threatening letters that seven of its parliamentarians received.

“We are going to study it because it seems extremely serious and worrying to us if it is confirmed that the government of Pedro Sánchez has actually deceived this chamber, all the parliamentary groups, for the benefit of its Bildu partners,” added Núñez.

The PP thus confirms that these adjustments, introduced into the articles during the debate on the presentation of the Justice Commission, went completely unnoticed, which is why it voted in favor of the text.
