A large steppe fire cannot be extinguished in Kazakhstan

A steppe fire is burning on the border between the Karaganda and Pavlodar regions and has not been extinguished for several days. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

As the department highlighted, the work is complicated by strong gusty winds, mountainous terrain and the lack of access roads to the fires.

The burning zones are divided into 12 combat sections. Its extinguishing is coordinated by the headquarters located at the site of the fire in the town of Terekty, Karaganda region, and at the Zheltau winter camp, Pavlodar region. The plane made 15 discharges with a total volume of 22 tons of water.

Residents of villages adjacent to the fire area were evacuated.
