The Consell takes part in the “Majorca march against cancer” race

The Consell participated in the solidarity race “Mallorca on the march against cancer”, which will take place on October 27 and organized by the Spanish Cancer Association of the Balearic Islands.

This was announced by the president of the Consell, Llorenç Galmés, during the presentation that took place this Monday at the Palau del Consell, recorded in a subsequent press release, and in which the second vice president and island councilor for Environment, Rural Environment and Sports participated, Pedro Bestard; the president of the Spanish Association against Cancer of the Balearic Islands, Jose Reyes; the general director of Unisport Consulting, Manuel Hernández; the Deputy Mayor for the Environment of Palma, Llorenç Bauza; and the general director of Sports of Palma, David Salom.

During the presentation, President Galmés assured that “The commitment of the Consell de Mallorca to the fight against cancer is firm and determined.” In this sense, he explained that the institution collaborates with the contribution of 1,000 t-shirts commemorating the event and medals for children under 12 years old who participate in the race.

The President of the Council stressed that “It is a solidarity initiative which, on the one hand, raises funds for the fight against cancer by promoting research and, on the other hand, promotes healthy lifestyle habits. “physical exercise, essential for prevention.” He further highlighted that this year’s edition has a luxury sponsor, the three-time Olympic medalist, Marcus Cooper. “In addition to being a great figure in the world of sport, he also demonstrates his personal value and solidarity with causes like the fight against cancer,” Galmés said.
