Johan Neeskens, icon of FC Barcelona and the Netherlands, died at 73

The world of football is in mourning. THE Dutch Football Association announced the death of the former footballer Johan Neeskens at 73.

Neeskens was at an event last Sunday when he reported that he was not feeling well and this Monday he was informed of his death due to sudden death.

The one who was a player Barca He arrived at the Barça club with the help of his compatriot Johan Cruyff in 1974. He spent five seasons there as a footballer which made him one of the foreign players most appreciated by Culés supporters. In 140 matches, he scored 35 goals.

He was an important player in this legendary team of The Netherlands called the ‘A Clockwork Orange‘ who managed to reach two consecutive World Cup finals. In Germany 1974 and Argentina 1978.

Neeskens won three European Cups with Ajax among the years 1971-1973. His dedication, football and charisma made him a highly regarded player who briefly continued his coaching career. Between 2006 and 2008 he was part of Frank Rijkaard’s coaching team at Barcelona Football Club.

We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Johan Neeskens.
