“We will not bow to anyone”

The mayor of Valencia, Maria José Catalácalled this Monday for “the spirit of unity and courage” to “claim what Valencia deserves and contribute to the future of this common project that is Spain”.

“We will not bow down to anyone,” he defended, while emphasizing that the city of Valencia “will always be above everything and everyone.”

“Today I want to send a message to all Valencians. We will not bow down to anyone, as our Senyera Royalewho has the rank of royalty to be doubly faithful: to our land and to our country,” he said.

He spoke like this this Monday during the ceremony presentation of Honors and Distinctions of the city of Valencia as part of October 9, Valencian Community Day.

The City Council recognized “the talent, commitment and creativity” of six entities and five people who “contributed through their daily efforts to improve the life of the city and its citizens.”

“On October 9, we commemorate the Christian reconquest of Valencia, our birth as a people, our identity and our essence,” he said during his speech.

In this sense, he highlighted the legacy and commitment of all the winners who represent “talented, creative, self-sacrificing and committed people” in different fields.

Reward

The company paid tribute this year to the Tribunal de las Aguas de la Vega de Valencia and the Guild of Artisan Tailors and Dressmakers of the Valencian Community, both gold medalists of the city.

Also to the Feminist Coordinator of Valencia, to the women of El Palmar (respectively Silver Medal of the City) and to the Breastfeeding Unit of the Doctor Peset University Hospital (Bronze Medal).

Víctor Claver Arocas, Ricardo Ten Argilés, Marc Granell and Luis Lucia Mingarro were named the city’s favorite sons. Finally, artists Miquel Navarro and Rosita Amores were honored as favorite son and daughter.

On behalf of all the people and entities awarded, the athlete Ricardo Ten spoke, thanking him for this recognition.

“Each of us, in each of our regions, defends our culture, our literature, our identity, our sports and our colors, our way of being and our values; and we defend them wherever we go,” he said. he declared.

La Senyera

Furthermore, the Crystal Room of the Town Hall will host the exhibition of Our Senyera.

From the 10:00 a.m. and until 9:00 p.m.Citizens and visitors will be able to access the Town Hall to contemplate and get closer to the Senyera. The visit will last all day and in the afternoon the Valentina polyphonic choir will perform Cant a la Senyera by Agustí Alaman and Carles Salvador.

There will be three performances, all open to the public, taking place at 7:00 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Also at 7:30 p.m., the Folklore Federation of the Valencian Community will offer an exhibition of Valencian dances, music and popular songs in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
