West Azerbaijan Chronicle: “Samad Vurgun glorified the Dilijan Valley in his poems”

Today the next program was aired within the framework of the West Azerbaijan Chronicle project.

Oku.Az It is reported that the interviewer of journalist Rufik Ismayilov was Ramiz Ismayilov, chairman of the representative office of the West Azerbaijani community in the city of Sumgayit.

He spoke of the town of Haqqikhli, where he was born and raised. He said that Haqqikhli is located in the southwest of Garagoyunlu district, Karvansaray district, on the edge of the Agstafa River, in the southwest of the Gazakh-Dilican highway, in the lower part of Aggayan, 4 kilometers from the highway. . According to him, until the deportation in 1988, only Azerbaijanis lived in this village, which is the most beautiful and historical settlement in the Dilijan Valley and is considered the gateway to Goycha.

Speaking about the etymology of the town’s name, R. Ismayilov said that according to some sources Haqqikhli is derived from the Turkish word haqikh. Haqqiq is mainly used in the sense of a valuable solid red mineral, an ornamental stone. Haqqikhli means a place with many haqiq stones. According to scientists, the presence of numerous decorative stones in the upper part of the town confirms what has been said. As a second example, the researchers proposed the idea that the name of the town derives from the toponymic word haq. Supposedly, the great-grandfathers of the Haqikhli people did not submit to a tyrant called Khalil Agha and came to these areas, which they used as pastures, built their houses and always considered themselves fair and just and said “we are Haqikh.” . The village built by those people was called Haqqikhli, which means “supporters of right and justice,” according to their statement. The presence of historic settlements and churches in the forested area near the village suggests that Haqqikhli is one of the oldest Caravanserai settlements.

The chairman of the Sumgayit city representative also spoke about the atrocities committed by Armenians in the Karvansaray region, including Haggikhli, in the last century. He said that in 1918, the Dashnaks put 75 Haqqikhli residents into a barn and burned them. During the period of Soviet Armenia, Azerbaijani personnel were not provided with jobs, they were discriminated against at every step. R. Ismayilov drew attention to the fact that during the USSR the name of the village was changed to Samad Vurgun and Hovk. He said that Samad Vurgun, the first popular poet of Azerbaijan, praised the Dilijan Valley in his poems.

The head of the community also referred to the activities of the representative office of the city of Sumgayit. According to him, residents of more than 200 villages from 26 districts of West Azerbaijan settled in Sumgait after the deportation in 1988. Over the past year, numerous meetings were held with our compatriots and high-level organizational work was carried out. To date, the representation has held 53 events. R. Ismayilov remembered with regret that his parents changed their world with their longing for the Fatherland. He noted that now our compatriots want to return to their ancestral lands.

It should be remembered that the objective of the Chronicle of Western Azerbaijan project is to preserve and promote the name of our historical lands, as well as the deportation of Azerbaijanis by Armenians, place names that existed in those territories, but their names have been erased. and countless examples of underground and surface material culture: ancient settlements, necropolises, mounds, remains of a castle, palace and fortification, caravanserai, bridges, funerary chests, stone crosses, statues of horses and rams, temples, churches, mosques and pyres . and homes are revealed, and facts confirming that the area is a pure Oghuz-Turk settlement are brought to the world community.

Also the president Ilham Aliyev Regarding Western Azerbaijan, he said: “The map of the beginning of the 20th century shows once again that Western Azerbaijan is the historical land of Azerbaijan, the names of cities and towns are of Azerbaijani origin and we know very well that Azerbaijanis on the territory of present-day Armenia throughout history people have lived. Now the main task is for the world community to also know it”, – in his opinion, it is about promoting the duties that arise from the Concept of Return developed by him. the Community of West Azerbaijan.

Furthermore, it aims to illuminate the thoughts of historians and researchers about Western Azerbaijan and the life history of the people who were deported.
