In Odessa, a woman tried to hang the Russian flag on the monument to Catherine II

An Odessa resident tried to hang a Russian flag on the site of the dismantled monument to Catherine II, the Strana publication reports.

The woman’s flag was taken away, after which she was detained by the police, the publication reports, citing local public pages.

In December 2022, monuments to the founders of the city: Empress Catherine II and her associates Joseph Deribas, Platon Zubov, Franz de Vollan and Grigory Potemkin, as well as commander Alexander Suvorov, were dismantled in Odessa. The dismantled figures were sent for storage to the National Museum of Art in Odessa, RBC clarifies.
