The Valencian Community lives its big day this Wednesday, with a multitude of events scheduled in the three provinces, and this is also reflected in the schedules of commercial establishments. A circumstance that may lead some customers to wonder what is open and what is closed in Valencia.
The paid and irrecoverable regional holiday of October 9 is not among those authorized by the Generalitat to raise the blinds. Nor in the highly touristy areas of the capital Turia and Alicante.
THE supermarkets Mercadona, Consum, Lidl or Carrefour do not open to the public in Valencia, but some Charter or Carrefour Express stores do. It is advisable to consult the specific schedules on their respective websites.
Likewise, the El Corte Inglés department stores in Pintor Sorolla, Colón, Nuevo Centro, Avenue de Francia and the Ademuz-Hipercor shopping center will not open their stores this Wednesday. Most fashion, bookstores or electronics stores in the center of Valencia, such as Zara or Fnac, do not do this either.
Furthermore, both shopping centers of the city -El Saler, Aqua, Arena and Nuevo Centro-, like those of the metropolitan area -Bonaire, Gran Turia or MN4- only open their leisure and restaurant areas. At the same time, Valencia’s cinemas and theaters offer a varied program.
