An official was punished for the death of a worker in Baku

The hearing on the appeal protest and the appeal filed by the prosecutor against the sentence handed down against Janiyar Abdalov, accused of violating safety regulations at construction sites, has ended in the Baku Court of Appeal.

According to information obtained by Pravda.az, the decision was announced in the trial presided over by Judge Farid Ayyubov.

According to the decision, the appeal filed by the accused and the addition to it were not granted. The appeal protest of the state prosecutor and the appeal of the legal representative of the legal heir of the victim were partially satisfied, the verdict issued by the Surakhani District Court was modified. The accused was sentenced to 5 years in prison. The lawsuit against the MMC, where he works, for compensation for material and moral damages, was partially satisfied. Thus, the legal representative of the legal heir of the victim was awarded compensation of 5,000 manat for moral damages from MMC and 350 manat per month for maintenance until reaching the age of majority born in 2009.

According to the indictment, Janiyar Abdalov performed executive functions in a multi-apartment residential building in one of the LLCs operating in Baku. During its activity, a multi-storey residential building was built at the intersection of Central Street and Samir Jafarov Street in the Yeni Guneshli settlement of the Surakhani district of the capital. At that time, on October 14, 2023, the victim F. Agayev died after falling from a height of 29.1 meters into a space of 90 cm between the two buildings while trying to cross from the seventh floor of the said residential building to another building. .

After the incident, Janiyar Abdalov was detained and charged with criminal responsibility.

According to the verdict of the Surakhani District Court, he was sentenced to five years in prison and served his sentence in a district-type penitentiary.
