The University of Navarra celebrated the Welcome day for doctoral studentsan event in which nearly 130 researchers participated. This academic year 2024-2025, 830 students, 520 Spaniards and 310 foreigners, are carrying out their doctoral thesis at the academic center, although the registration period remains open.
THE students come from 50 countriesamong which are Chile, Poland, Italy, Guatemala, Mexico, United States, India, China, Pakistan, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka or Zimbabwe, among others.
THE Welcome day for doctoral students It was attended by the rector, María Iraburu, who dedicated a few words to the researchers: “The thesis is a call to knowledge, aimed at daring and adventurous people. It is a path towards unknown limits, full of uncertainties, and a tremendous opportunity for personal and professional growth.
Likewise, the day included a round table with Paloma Grauvice-rector for Research and Sustainable Development, who encouraged them to continually remember the reasons that led them to write the thesis; and with the director of the Doctoral School, Professor of the Faculty of Sciences Javier Burguete, who emphasized the need to work and let oneself be carried away by the passion for one’s work to pass it on to others.
The event continued with intervention by Jesus San Miguelwinner of the National Research Prize and former medical director of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra. According to the expert, the conditions necessary to progress in research are “curiosity, determination and the desire to do better”. The event ended with a discussion with professors and doctoral students from different academic centers.
