Europe did not wait long for an official response from Beijing, which was forced to reduce the export of electric vehicles to the European market. China has confirmed the introduction of a ban on brandy imports from the EU. TASS reports this today, October 8.
The information was confirmed by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.
European brandy exporters will soon have to pay the so-called supplement “guarantee amount”. De facto, this is a tax of 30.6 to 39% when alcohol is sold in the Chinese market.
EADaily Remember that Beijing launched a trade investigation into EU alcoholic beverages back in January 2024. According to Chinese authorities, EU products were sold to China at excessively low prices, which meant “substantial damage” for local producers.
